Fair Food Aberdeenshire (FFA) was established in 2021 in response to the development of the Aberdeenshire Food Strategy. The group was broadened to include a cross-sector partnership with representatives from public, private and community sectors.

One Seed Forward is a community growing initiative with the aim to encourage people of all ages to grow their own food, to eat seasonally and healthily, and share their produce and knowledge with others in the community. We have free seed giveaways, we deliver training for new gardeners and community spaces, and we partner with other groups with similar aims to ourselves.

NESCAN Hub is the regional community climate action hub covering Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. They help support and develop community led climate action and enable communities to be a part of a just transition to a sustainable North East Scotland, contributing to local, regional and national policy setting & decision making.

CFINE improves health and wellbeing and the environment, tackles poverty and builds resilience through a range of support and services for and with disadvantaged, vulnerable, low-income individuals, families and communities in North East Scotland.

The Rowett Institute plays a major role in the UK research capability in nutrition and human health and throughout it’s long and proud history the Institute has made a significant impact on animal health and human nutrition. Representation is from Prof. Alex Johnstone who is an academic with a research focus on diet and health inequalities, including living with obesity and food insecurity.

The James Hutton Institute combines strengths in crops, soils and land use and environmental research, and makes a major contribution to the understanding of key global issues, such as food, energy and environmental security, and developing and promoting effective technological and management solutions to these.

Aberdeenshire Council provide support from various teams such as Economic Development, Employability and Sustainability. A key partner is the Tackling Poverty & Inequalities team who have helped to drive the partnership forward as they continue to improve food security which means better access to healthy and nutritious food across Aberdeenshire.

AHSCP provide a range of care and support services in the community for people with different care needs - mainstream services, which are available to all, and specialist services designed for more complex needs. AHSCP lead on the Confidence 2 Cook programme which is designed to equip those working in a community setting with the skills, knowledge and confidence to help others start to cook.

Aberdeenshire north Foodbank (ANF) don’t think anyone in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. ANF are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. ANF also host host the coordinator for Fair Food Aberdeenshire.

What started as a children’s yoga class in Stonehaven has grown to a community wellbeing space with a fully equipped yoga studio, healing room and mindful room with 25 people working from The Haven offering 45 wellbeing activities weekly. The Haven has a Wellbeing Volunteer Coordinator with a background in natural health, whole foods, and growing.

The Aberdeenshire Public Health Team works with a wide range of partners, staff and communities to support people to live healthily; to ensure our communities are healthy places to live and to ensure individuals are well connected to a wide range of services, support and activities in their communities
